The film “The Red Object” investigates the connection between 3D printing and a long-distance relationship.

A narrator comments on an object, while touching it with his fingers in front of a laptop screen. The Object turns out to be a 3D test-print of a person's head. The represented person–who seems to be in an intimate relationship with the narrator–is the owner of the object, but forgot it at the narrators desk after leaving. Simultaneously amazed and disappointed, the narrator seems to grasp the emotional meaning of this object translating a two-dimensional photo back into three dimensional space.
